Number Fifty.

Whaddya know? I made it to fifty posts. I haven't been inspired to write anything as of late, but after reading the latest post over on the Ch'Know? blog, I thought it was a neat idea and wanted to try it. So here's the plan: I have to first answer these twelve questions (see below) and then go to Flickr and enter my answers as search keywords and make a collage out of all the pictures I find...or something along those lines. Check out Alicia's blog as previously mentioned if you want to know the correct instructions.

So here goes.

1. What is your first name? - Verona2. What is your favorite food? - Salad (I kid you not, I eat a spinach salad every single day)
3. What high school did you go to? – Riverbend High School
4. What is your favorite color? – Red, maybe. Actually, I don't know that I have a favorite. I do like the salmon-pink-orangey color, yeah, let's go with that.
5. Who is your celebrity crush? – I have this thing for Olivia Wilde, not in like a lesbian crush sort of way, but more like - wow, she's so gorgeous and (somewhat) talented. Does that count? 6. Favorite drink? - Tea! Hot, cold, black, green, earl and chai, doesn't matter to me.
7. Dream vacation? – Ireland or Scotland. I want to see where my family came from and the area is absolutely beautiful.
8. Favorite dessert? – Cheesecake with a chocolate graham cracker crust and cherries on top.
9. What you want to be when you grow up? – Content.
10. What do you love most in life? – Certainty (and my dogs)
11. One Word to describe you. - Windy. (I looked up a synonym for "wordy" because that's exactly what I am - I just keep talking and explaining on no end - as you can tell from these answers...and dictionary.com said "windy" and I liked that.)
12. Your flickr name. – Verona Valentin [I love that my own pictures don't even come up when I search my name on flickr, wha?]

1. Verona - Wonderful city, 2. D.R.F.S.B (Dangerously Red Flying Salad Bowls), 3. The importance of stretching., 4. Kercock Bothy - Perthshire Scotland, 5. Olivia Wilde, 6. In memory of the US Gulf Coast - Grayton Beach, Florida, 7. "Odd One Out"!!!!, 8. Chocolate Chip Cheesecake with Raspberries, 9. . content with silence ., 10. Horizon, 11. Not available, 12. Se acaban las rebajas

Do you ever just close your eyes and feel every rain drop hit your skin? I did today. I felt alive, and somewhat alone in the same moment. But I was content with the calm, the silence.

Zombie Nation.

dun nuh nuh nu nuh, nuh nuh nuh dun nun nun nuh ...yeah, if you don't know where I'm going with that, I was humming the ZombieNation song by Grendel rofl.

Anyway! I haven't blogged in a bit, so I figured I'd try to come up with something today. Yesterday, Themi and I went zombie hunting. We found this pretty neat open RP sim that actually spawns zombies that you can shoot and kill. So of course, we donned our gear and headed out of the initial training area and started kicking some zombie arse. Hellz yeah.

I planned to write more about the adventure, but um...now I don't feel like it. >_>
Oh, but I will say - Themi and I both rented slum apartments on the sim. They were so cheap and ridiculously glitchy, yet it seemed like we had to do it. I mean, how can you pass up owning this wonderful piece of erm...real estate.. (and yes, that is the link to my apartment, feel free to go visit. It's fully furnished and utterly disgusting. Have fun!)

After all the zombie killing was done, it was time for a horror movie night. First we watched The Haunting in Connecticut, which was really lame btw, and then 28 Days Later.

This morning I am back at the sim kicking zombie butt just for fun and I've set my Windlight to a creepier, somewhat post-apocalyptic setting for a cooler experience. If you have time, come check out the sim and maybe run around with me rambo-style.

So um, disregard that last post entitled "zoy". I was trying to type another entry and my fingers were off the home keys and I hit enter on accident apparently and it posted >_>

I deleted it, so you can't see it now, but of course once you hit submit, it ends up on Google Reader immediately.

The Search! v.2

I did a post a while ago called "The Search!" and tonight, I had an idea...well, two ideas actually.
So - I get a lot of questions about my shape in Second Life. It is quite petite at a mere 5'2. I made it myself from scratch, so I feel bad when people ask me where it's from or for recommendations and I can't help. So that leads me to my first point/idea...I am on a search for shapes similar to my own. I want to compile a list of stores that carry said shapes so that when people ask, I can actually recommend some stores. Anddd my second idea relates to the title: everytime I'm on a search for something in SL and feel like blogging about it, I will title it "The Search! v.#" Not that anyone really cares what I name my posts or even wanted to know the second idea I had, but I thought it was clever >_>

So! Where does one start when searching for petite shapes? I'm checking out all the fashion feeds as well as doing the old-skool Search > Places in-world. (By the way, this is probably a good time to say...if you have any recommendations, please leave them in a comment below or IM me in world. I can use all the help I can get!)

So far I only have one shop on the list, but I'm searching right now before I head off to bed. I hope this can help people once I get a good list going :>

They're supposed to be glowing, but the high res snapshot kinda displaced the glow to the middle of the dancefloor..so um, I don't know. >_>

Impromptu Baywatch Party

Sadly, the title of my post doesn't imply that there is or will be a baywatch party going on any time soon >_>

HOWEVER! Tonight a gesture-war between two friends prompted...a baywatch photo op, but that didn't happen, so we just had a party on the lawn of the Favole Mainstore XD I guess you would have just had to have been there in order to understand the flow of events tonight. It was fun though. We opened the party to the Favole group but it only caught the attention of a few drifters.
It was good fun dancing with old friends - too bad I'm a really bad blogger and didn't get a single picture tonight. Oh well.

After most everyone left, I sat and fished with Izam - who has been on my friend's list for quite some time, but we haven't really talked much. Anywho! She made my current K-Pop obsession grow by like 2340983 times. So um, I'll post a video at the end so you all at least have something to look at besides a wall o' text.

I forgot how fun fishing was...at least in SL. There's no baiting the hook, reeling, and most importantly...no touching of any fish :> Plus, the Favole pond has loads of neato custom prizes (which you should go check out via this link because I am an awesome blogger who plugs friend's stores like that....especially ones that I work at).

But yeah, not much else to say tonight. It was a fun, relaxing night. I needed that after the wacko meltdown that occurred a few days ago.
Hope everyone has had a great week so far!

Now for le tunage:

I cried out with no reply and I can't feel You by my side. So I'll hold tight to what I know: You're here, and I'm never alone.

This is completely unrelated to Second Life tonight, sorry.

No matter how down and distraught I may get, I have to keep my head up. I originally wrote a post as a spur of the moment sort of thing in the midst of an RL breakdown. It was not pretty. It felt awful to write.
So I didn't post it. Instead, I took some time to think.

There's no other way of saying this, so if you don't want to hear Christian shenanigans, take your eyes elsewhere now....and I mean that in the politest way possible, but this is my blog.

The only thing keeping me afloat right now is my Savior. I would be nothing without Him. I get so caught up in earthly desire and expectations that I forget the big picture and then that's when it all starts piling up. You can't go through life all alone. Even when I don't realize it, God is there for me...it's just so, so, so hard sometimes.

I was in AM Radio's The Surface again tonight. I go there when I'm bored or when I'm feeling down. I like to look at the backdrop of the sim; it's a desert mountain range. I picture myself running and escaping into the hills. I've been so tired, just flat-out, dead tired. I kept wanting to run, but running doesn't do any good. Just prolongs the situation and the hurt.

I don't want to run anymore...or at least, I want myself to not want to run anymore. I'm getting there, slowly. I'm trying to balance my life out and trying to focus on what's important, but it's so hard.

One of the points I touched on in the nasty post I mentioned earlier was my lack of sincerity in my life and relationships...so at this point, trust is all I have - trust that it will get better. Trust that it's all a part of a larger plan and I'll make it through someway, somehow.

I don't mean to rant on about something completely non-SL related in this blog, but I had no where else to vent to.
On a side note: I'm looking for new places to explore in SL. If you have any recommendations, I'd love to hear them!

I can never look at tentacles the same...

Ah, where to begin this post. I have two stories to tell...both which involve...surprise sexual violations.. (If that doesn't strike your interest, I don't know what will!) Oh and don't worry, nothing illegal, I swear!

So story numero uno: a longtime SL friend passed me an object called "This is a good laugh". Usually if I'm in a sim where I can't rez objects, I just attached the box or whatever to my hand (even if I look idiotic) and I can just drag the items out of the box and into my inventory via the edit menu...so that's what I had planned on doing. Until...THIS:

(I had to take a screenshot of a snapshot from SL, so sorry about the size/quality...not that anyone actually WANTS to see that >_>) The purple and pink frog THING was humping my poor, poor avatar. D;

I tried to detach it as fast as I could before anyone saw, but then in local chat..."lmfao tin tin" (yes, my in-world nickname from Themi is tin tin - it comes from my last name Valentin). And so it began. Themi so lovingly snapped a picture for *cough* memories >_>

And now for Part II of this saga...
Today someone passed me a LM to a sim for me to explore. I have a little note in my profile that says something to the effect of...if you have any recommendations for exploration sims, feel free to IM me or drop me a LM". I like when people give me LMs to places, it makes it more fun to go visit then when I just mindlessly browse Search or something. The best places are usually not found in search anyway.
So I arrived to a pretty small dome-like place that was very dark and had some tentacles flipping and twisting around. No biggy, right? Right. I saw a green flame that said Teleport to The Shadowlands: Crystal or something like that. So, curiously, I clicked it. It flew me up several hundred meters into another boxed-in area, but this time it was an old house. I went upstairs and looked around. Wasn't much to be seen except for an old chair, a candle and a bookcase. I clicked around on the furniture and then...
[21:08] Lurker Beyond whispers: You open the ornate doors, only to be grabbed and dragged toward something lurking beyond them. Tentacles bind you against hot, slime covered flesh.

I should have known to turn back then. I thought maybe it was going to be some sort of horror thing, but...well, let's just keep going and you'll see.

[21:08] Lurker Beyond whispers: You writhe against the rippling wall of flesh, trying to kick free. Your legs can't find any purchase in the slime to push against, and your arms are tightly bound. [21:08] Lurker Beyond whispers: The freeze as you hear something laugh. The sound vibrates through your body, leaving no doubt what-so-ever as to what created it.

Hmm...getting a little creepy.

[21:08] Lurker Beyond whispers: Terrible sounds of wet slime and sliding flesh attract your attention, making you look down. Your eyes grow wide as you watch an impossibly huge cock slide from its fleshy sheath.

:(__________________) [That's my jaw dropping in case you didn't catch that] I thought I had seen it all, but the mysterious tentacles in the wardrobe dresser sure threw me for a loop. At first I was shocked, then I just burst out laughing. I mean, if you're into that sort of thing then by all means, go for it...but me? No thank you. Btw, I'm sparing you all the other grimy details that came after.

But other than that, the sim was nicely designed and was just eerie enough.

So, thus ends my tales of sexual-woes for the week. Mind you, these two things happened within a span of oh...24 hours.

Keep those landmarks coming though, people! They're entertaining no matter what!

Agatha Trunchbull

I'm in a bloggy mood tonight. I promise this one will be quick though!
My outfit tonight made me think of Ms. Trunchbull from Matilda so here I am to show you my twisted look :>

She gave me the creeps.
"My school is a model of discipline! Use the rod, beat the child, that's my motto" - Ms. Trunchbull.
And don't even get me started on "The Chokey"!

Show me yo' Interface!

Wow, that was a lame title. Anyway, today I was sorting through my inventory as I do about once a week now and I thought I'd blog about it. SO interesting, I know!
I try to delete everything I don't need (landmarks, notecards, ads) first and then file everything away in their respective folders. You see, at the beginning of this year, I decided I needed to get organized. My inventory was busting out of its seams like muffin-top tummy over jeans that are too tight (I don't know where that came from, but I felt an analogy was needed there...yeah. I am happy, however, to say that I do not possess said muffin top. /end cockiness). It took me a while, but I eventually got it narrowed down to everything I use pretty regularly or thought I might use later on. It's a bummer sometimes to think of some totally random object that I used to have and realize that I deleted it in the cleanup D; But for the most part, I enjoy my folders, sub-folders, sub-sub-folders...you get the idea.
So tell me, do you (there aren't many readers here so I'm not sure who I'm posing this question to) sort your inventory? If so, what sort of headings do you use?

Here's mine before finishing up the weekly sort (there are more folders below the cutoff, oops):

You'll have to click the image to see it larger so that you can actually read the titles (and I apologize for the quality, I don't know how to take an interface snapshot and have it turn out clear), but then again...I shouldn't advise that because my headings are kind of sloppy and odd. When I first sorted everything, I had a habit of CAPS APPARENTLY and repeating the titles (i.e. "TIGERCLAW TIGERCLAW" or "TATTOOS TATTOOS TATTOOS"). I guess I thought it would make the folders stand out more while I was sorting initially, but I think it's time for a re-organization, or at least re-titling of folders.

I do however, like my skin folder which has subfolders that include titles like: "Feeling Pretty (normal skins)", "Tan/darker than I prefer", "Decent Skins/Gifts I don't really use", "Goth, Very Pale tones/Geisha/Drow", "Halloween/Creepy Skins/Costume/Winter Skins"(LOL), and Ugly Duck has it's own folder because Fade Lei's skins and gifts stand alone in interesting uniqueness. It's kind of stupid that I have a folder of "gifts I don't really use" - if I don't use it, why do I have it? Guess I'll have to sort through those and see what the deal is there.
I feel like I need to explain a couple of other folders as well LOL. "Favole Themis Enzo Themy" cracks me up. I made this when Themi first started creating and because she names most of her items after really cool, but really hard to spell mythical things, I could never find any of her items when I searched. Thus, I added "Themis" or "Themi" to the end of the product names so I could find them. Then I got smart and just made a folder for her things, but never got around to changing the name lol.
"The Office Dwight Schrute Stuff" was from when I first joined SL, per the episode of The Office where Dwight signs up for a SecondLife account. I just couldn't bring myself to delete the items I suppose.
All the folders you see that have "everything" attached at the end just means that I had so many items from said stores, I didn't feel like sorting them and put them in their own folders. And don't be fooled by the order of the folders, I just started cranking out categories and numbering them as I went.

This post is turning out to be longer than expected. Maybe I'll just end it here.

I couldn't think of a good title.

Update: I decided just after posting this that I wanted to attempt to snap some better pictures. So here is pose #1 in a more fitting atmosphere (+mocha+ mainstore sim). Enjoy!

(You'll notice that this post was actually written last night, but I didn't post it until this morning so I could get all the links/SLURLS. Excuse the awkward wording and/or nonsense. It was past 2AM and I was exhausted XD)
I had another topic in mind for tonight, but honestly, it might have read rather mean-spirited and I just didn't know if I wanted to end the week with that sort of attitude. Fortunately for me, another topic sprung up just before I was about to log out for the night.

So, I was at Favole tonight, just checking up on things, greeting people, and what have you, when I got an IM from Milli Santos, owner of No Strings Attached, that really made my night. She just said that she appreciated that I greeted her and said that she liked my blog (three cheers for new readers!) and then she passed me a pose pack from her store - which is also an item for sale at the Operation Squeegee fundraiser for the Gulf oil spill recovery - just as a little gift.
If you know me, you know I get super excited whenever I come across really interesting and/or exceptionally kind people in SL - as my profile says, I even keep notes in people's profiles when I come across said types of people in case I ever run into them again, I'll remember whatever it was that I noted in their profile.

But anyway...

I'm not the blogger-review type of person, and I don't intend to do a review of the poses that she gave me because there are plenty of other more capable and skilled bloggers for that job XD ...But I did want to share that little story with the blog-o-sphere and I do want to share a couple of photos to show off the cuteness that is Milli's new pose pack called "My Friend Ben".

Not that my photos do the poses justice, considering that you can't see them full length (Sorry, Milli!), but on the left is pose #2 with the little mouse named Ben on my elbow, and on the right is another pose from the pack (#6), but I just wanted a close up of Ben :>

Anyway, you should go check out No Strings Attached and Operation Squeegee. NSA has a bunch of really cute couples poses (If only I had someone to use them with :< *sings* "I'm all aloneee. There's no one there besideee meee" LOL) and of course some nice single poses, but seriously, the pack at Operation Squeegee is so adorable and it's for a great cause so you can't help but go pick it up.

Oh and just another note, I still haven't figured out w-t-f is up with my blog header as far as the font goes...and I can't get the spacing/padding right for my "Home", "About", etc buttons so just bare with me until I can get the unsightly fonts and layout fixed >_>

Maybe I'm the only one...

But I definitely get lost every time I visit the LeLutka sims, which mind you, is not very often.

I'll get to the point of this post in just a few minutes, but first, I would like to explain. I know all you fashionistas love your LeLutka, Glam Affair, Emery, whatever, blah blah, whatever, and don't get me wrong, all these stores are fab...but I'm just not use to shopping at these places.
You see, I was never a linden-buying mass consumer until recently (and I still wouldn't say that I'm a mass consumer). I came into SL after seeing it featured on The Office (which by the way...did you hear?! Steve Carell, aka Michael Scott, is leaving the show *sob*) and I just thought I would play it for a day or two and then uninstall it - boy was I wrong.
After getting pretty involved in SL, I told myself that I would not put money into this "game". I know just how much some of my friends and family members put into games and it drives me absolutely nuts. I guess I would buy more stuff if SL, for me, wasn't just dress-up-my-virtual-barbie time...heck, maybe I'd even create if I thought I would be any good at it.
Anyway, I have never been really familiar with these big-name brands because I was use to buying the cheaper things or having to save up tips from my former hosting gigs for a few items that were on my wish list for some time.
Now, it's like learning how to shop all over again. I had my select favorite stores back then, and some are still my faves (can you say Bare Rose and Kin? Cheap and good quality, sa-wheet!), but now a whole new area of fashion has opened up. Though, if I see something I want, I add it to my "Need to Buy" notecard and if I still want it in a week or so, I'll just cave and buy some lindens and get the damn outfit. I find this cuts down on how much I spend.
And I know what you're all thinking, "wtf? the exchange rate is like 250L to a US dollar, why are you being such a cheap-ass?" I'm just very conservative when it comes to spending - in both worlds. I have to think about every purchase I make. In SL, I demo, compare, re-demo, narrow down, demo again, and then make my selection. In RL, I research, compare, test it out/try it on...several times, then make my decision.

WOW. Big wall o' text there. I find when I start typing, I just can't stop and I blab on in hopes of explaining myself....shit, I'm doing it again.

PHOTO TIME!

Oh, so I forgot to get back to the *original* point of this post.
I was going to go shopping at LeLutka tonight for a blazer, but I could not for the life of me figure out where I was, even with the map (see above). I blame this partly on the fact that I had not yet rezzed. Of course, as soon as I snapped a quick photo, I looked to the left of the frame and WAHBAM! There was the Apparel section I was looking for *facepalm*
Psst, that cute "Tigur" that I'm holding is from [kue]. I'm all about adorable things you can hold in SL.

In any case, I'm exhausted - it's nearly 2AM and intead of shopping, I decided to write this post. Oops, my avi is still looking clueless, standing in the middle of the store >_>
Maybe tomorrow.

P.S.: I hope this post even made sense. I'm running on empty tonight so forgive my nonsense x_X

Feel it in My Bones

Hit 'Play' while you're reading this for awesome tunage!

Ahem. So I've been searching for a Tegan and Sara-esque hairstyle in SL for a few days and today, my search (unknowingly) ended at Little Heaven. I haven't been there in over a year. I used to go there all the time because I thought the sim was so neat and the products were so original and cool. Anyway, someone posted some Little Heaven hair on one of the fashion blogs and it made me want to go check out what was new. I went over to the hair section and there were two V's on the lucky chairs so I snagged those. When I opened the boxes, I found two hairs - one of which was very similar to the style I had been searching for. Joy! I had a look around to see if there were any other cool hairs and ended up buying a set.

Then, of course, I wanted to take pictures and try to pretend to be some badass rockstar *cough*

Just chillin' (like a boss). Anddd then it was time to explore the rest of the sim. :>

This room (above) still makes me cringe. If you step on the blood splatters, you hear it squish. *faints*

Oh nu. I fell on a sword...or something.

But, of course, I arise all badass-like to stand next to a burning car. ...Uh, yeah >_>

Anyway! I enjoy the sim, and my new hurr, so hopefully you will too! Go check out Little Heaven (or is it Little Hell with all those mutilated bodies?) here!

Oh, PS: all poses (with the exception of the dying on the floor) are from (marukin). You can find the SLURL by searching said name or flipping back to one of my previous posts. I'm not logged in to SL right now so no SLURL. :(

Whaaaaat?

So I read this comical article over on The Alphaville Herald and I just wanted to share it.

In related news, according to the Official Second Life Blog, M Linden will be stepping down and Philip will be back as CEO. Kind of...interesting (to say the least) that this comes right after the "restructuring" of the company (i.e. firing nearly 30% of all Linden employees).

Just sayin'.

Oh and another one

Just for the heck of it! I'm going to tell all you lovely readers *cough* about the new Emerald beta release and NOT the "what's to come" for SL Viewer 3.

New Features!
  • Advanced radar HUD options: Now you can simply click to the Options tab on the Radar menu and it will allow you to set it to alert you when someone enters the sim, draw distance, and/or chat range. You can also do some age notification, but I haven't explored that...so!
  • Built-in AO. This is probably my FAVORITE feature so far. No more pesky Zhao HUDs. All you need to do is place all the poses you want in the AO in the folder labeled "#Emerald" and then write up a little notecard that tells which poses go into which category - if you need help with this, just IM me in-world, but I don't really feel like explaining the formatting here. If you've used a Zhao II HUD before, you have already prepared said NC and you can simply drag it to the Client-side AO menu in Emerald and viola!
  • Announces streaming music artist/song name to chat. When you're listening to a stream and you're like "wait, I like this song! What's it called?!" Just check your chat history. When the song comes on (or when you hit 'Play'), it tells you the info.
  • Group titles menu. This is a nifty feature too! In the Group tab under Communicate, there is a button labeled "Titles" which lists EVERY title you have from all your groups. Instead of having to sift through all your rental, home, store, and personal groups to find the tag you're looking for, simply click the Titles button and it will display the role name, the actual title and the group that the title belongs to. Like I said, really nifty especially for those that are a part of a lot of business groups
Improved Stability
...At least I think so. XD

Glitches
  • Body/Skin textures continually disappear. Hopefully this will be fixed in the official release.

Anddd yeah, that wasn't quite as thorough as I thought it might be. Maybe I'll think of more things to add as I discover/remember them. But for now, that's all I've got for ya! You can download and test out the new beta here.

OH AND! Just so you know, if my blog looks screwy, mainly the header, it's not me...it's Blogger's lovely new Template Designer. -.-;

Contrast

This is my sad attempt at some sort of comparison photo. I bought the Deer Mask from Illusions today - funny story, I actually went to check out the new Corvus raven mask and matching outfits, and ended up with a deer mask that I have been coveting for a while but never brought myself to buy it (ok, so that wasn't really that funny). Anyway, I wasn't sure if I wanted to go all fawn-like and sweet and innocent or dark and demon-esque. So this leads me to the photo.

So neither is really sweet & innocent or demon-esque, but you get the gist of it...hopefully.

I actually only took the bright photo at first because when I was visiting the sim that's in the picture, it reminded me of the setting of the final battle in The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. And of course, just the fact that I was wearing a mask at all reminded me of MM. Anyway, it was just a Zelda fan-geek-tastic moment for me and then it turned into this contrast thing.

Whatever.

Mask: *~*Illusions*~*

OMG! I can see!

Honestly, I could not think of anything better for the title of this post. I wasn't even going to update tonight, but when I logged on today...to my surprise I could SEE people, buildings, textures, everything! Usually I'm kickin' around 15fps (sad, terrible...the horror, I know), but today I'm running like 41!

So why the change you ask?
I upgraded to Windows 7 and reinstalled my video drivers, cleaned up and reformatted my hard drive and now I'm running super smooth :) It was a nightmare getting to this point though, let me tell you! Ugh! It was time to wipe my hard drive though, honestly. I won't even get into all the crap and stupid mistakes I did while trying to save my computer because any self-respecting computer techie would probably cringe and scream >_>
So anyway! After two days of installing, repairing, overwriting, repairing, installing, yada yada, here I am with a fresh 64-bit copy of Windows 7.

But yeah, back to SecondLife related things...Themi released some fantastic new accessories and I just must show them :3

Those totally wicked Reaper wings are so friggin' sweet! And guess what? They're only 65L. I love the title "Reaper" because it reminds of the television series Dead Like Me which I also find friggin' sweet!

And of course a shot of the wings from the back and you can also see the neato posture collar that Themi made that has spinal detailing on the back. Anddd because I didn't feel like doing any poses or anything, you get the raw photo so you'll see that Themi and Ysa are in the picture to the left as well XD

Now it's time for me to go to sleep. I was up until 2 last night waiting on the first install to complete (which was a total waste of time in the end) and now it's late again :<
Goodnight !

Just another post for kicks

Did someone say "Verona's in an ad in this month's issue of La Vie d'Innocent"?

Oh, no, no one said that. But it's true! So yeah, check it. Page 10! I'm on the left, while Themis is on the ground and Kaishi, her partner, is the super tall dood in the back :P And of course the lovely photographer was Ysandir.

I think it's super cool that not only am I in an ad for a store, but that Favole is getting so much exposure lately. :>

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

The search!

So today I was just roaming the Starlust sims and landed at a store, which I can't quite remember the name of, that sold roller blades, skateboards, and even a pogo stick, and it made me want to get a bike to ride. Yknow, those cool wearable ones. But you know me, I didn't want to pay like 5000L (no lie) for a bike or motorcycle or something. I mean, sure, they might be worth it if you use them enough and they're great quality, but honestly, I probably won't use the bike but a few times. At this particular store, the items were actually very reasonably priced, but I wasn't really diggin' the styles.

So the search was on!
I first took my quest to XstreetSL and browsed the free/cheap ground vehicles. Not much luck. I tested out a few things:

I call it "Collage of Fail". On the left, we have what was supposed to be a wearable moped, but...yeah... On the right, it may look normal at first glance, but I had to adjust my avatar Z positioning (i.e. lifted off ground) with Emerald Viewer up like .9 points! The bike was obviously made for a very tall avi. And finally, my personal favorite, the tiny skateboard. I guess I should have known that when it said "tiny skateboard" it actually meant it was for tiny avatars...thus, it squashed my already-short avi into a little box. Classic.
Oh and by the way, the designers are not full of fail because they worked hard on the items, so kudos to you! I'm just sorry I couldn't sport them in a erm, more flattering way. :>

BUT JUST WHEN I WAS ABOUT TO GIVE UP....THE SEARCH WAS CONCLUDED!

..err, wait. No. Just kidding. The problem with not speaking Japanese is that when you assume something that sort of looks like "#^($%()$%" means "wear" or "ding ding ding! we have a winner! this is what you've been looking for, Verona!"

Nope. I just can't catch a break.
I went with the unicycle, but...well...

Not wearable ;( I mean, it's still a neato unicycle (besides the odd huffing noise it makes when you're on it - not to mention the erm, interesting pose >_>) to use when at home or on build-ok land.

Ah well. I spent nearly 100L on stuff that went straight to my trash folder, but that's alright. At least I got a semi-entertaining blog post out of it, right?

I guess I'll just stick to an oldie, but a goodie: my favorite, the Catnip wearable balance ball with animations and facial expressions.

I got a little carried away with the Picnik stickers, sue me xP

So, I never did find a suitable bike/skateboard/roller blade/random wearable mobile, but oh well. The search continues!

Have a good night everyone! I'm off to shower now. Make sure you tell your fathers or father-figures Happy Father's Day tomorrow :>

I couldn't get the wheat fields to rez properly. Sorry.
Today: not so light and airy as in previous posts. Off-key. Tired. Neutral.

Just a few notes:
the pose is by Valencia Southard who is the blogger over at My Secondlife.Free and she also owns a shop called (marukin). Her poses are really simple and cute :3 (cheap too!)
The dress is from Doppleganger Inc. I got a notecard that said there was a sale going on and even though this dress wasn't on sale, it was so worth it - you get three colors for 200L.
The eyes are from Umedama Holic, one of my favorite eye stores in SL. These were a hunt gift I believe, but they're really neat - they are textured to look teary-eyed and the eyes come with a tear-drop prim.

Final Challenge.

If this is your first BBBC... What did you get out of your experience? Do you think it will change the way you blog in the future?

So this is the last challenge of the Big Bad Blogger Challenge 2010. I'm glad to say I kept up with my posting and completed each of the challenge topics.

Alright so...what did I get out of this experience? Well, for one, I realized how uninteresting I truly am XP However, even though I didn't really have anything of importance or even anything witty/interesting to say most of the week, it was nice to check my Google Reader and see a challenge post waiting for me. It made me think throughout the day what I would be blogging about.

I don't think this will really change how I blog in the future because I didn't really step out of my comfort zone - but that's probably my own fault. I may have held back since this was my first challenge. All the more to look forward to next year though, no? I think I will try and continue blogging every day. Maybe I'll make up my own little challenge - Life in Verona: 7 days a week - always on. ...actually no, that sounded more like a commercial for a news station, so scratch that. Point is, I'm gonna try to keep up my blogging, even if no one ever comments or even reads my posts - at least it gives me an outlet.

So I'll see ya next year, BBBC!

Oh, and I was going to post a picture, but since I downloaded the new beta release of Emerald viewer, I have been glitching like crazy. Right now I'm a floating head with bracelets hair and feet and when that's not enough to drive me crazy, I rebake and all my clothes come off. No joke. I stand there completely nude until I rebake again...and then it's back to no-body-Verona (no pun intended, I literally mean no body..>_>)

Oh well.

BBBC #5 - Unrestricted

So today's topic is to simply write about whatever we feel like. When I read the challenge the first time, I panicked a little - I had no idea what I was going to write about and quite honestly, didn't feel like blogging today at all. Meh.

So I'm gonna take a little tip from the BBBC creator's blog and just do a list sort of dealio for today's post of whatever comes to mind. And maybe I'll stick some random pictures in that I've had in my folder to blog for a bit since I haven't posted anything lately.

So (I wonder how many paragraphs I can begin with "So" in this post), let's get right down to it. Here's what's on my mind:
  • My computer is awful slow as of late. I think I need to just wipe my hard drive and start anew.
  • SL just crashed because the "region was experiencing some trouble" BAH
  • I'm really, really tired. I've been going and going and going like the energizer bunny lately. Tomorrow, I plan on staying in my PJs all day and watching movies and laying on the couch with my two pups. I have no intentions of turning on my phone or even getting on SL (...but I know I will at some point, at least the second part of that statement)
  • I wish my blog was more interesting. I've been reading some other posts from bloggers in the challenge and I have to say, bravo you guys - your stuff is fun, interesting, exciting, thought intriguing, and all that good stuff.
  • I hired a new model today at Favole. Makes me feel good to have responsibility again in SL. I like having a purpose.
  • I got a much better grade on the exam I took today than I thought I would. Go me!
  • It's a good thing this blog is called "Life in Verona" and really is all about me, otherwise I'd sound pretty egotistical with all these "I"'s everywhere in this post.
  • I have a paper to write.
  • I, I, I, I. ....just thought I'd throw in a few extra I's for good measure.
  • Talking with old friends makes me really happy. I hope it continues.
  • I keep typing things, then backspacing them. I guess I'll end this list now.

I'm not in a very good mood today :<

Oh, and I don't feel like fixing up all those pictures I was talking about, so I'll just give you one for today.

I'm feeling very cloudy and bleh today. Thus, the sepia tone with blur. My avatar is so boring, I swear. I always wear the same damn horns, the same skin, same hair, and the same colors. I think maybe I'll go shopping tonight to find something new and interesting. I like getting into character sometimes.

Goodnight.

Unrelated

You know...the more I look at other people's blogs who are doing the BBBC, the more I think my posts are just so terribly boring.

BBBC #4 - What's my age again?

SL Bloggers - Is your avatar more or less your current biological age? Do you portray a younger avatar, or older? Why is this?

I like this question. I actually try to keep my avatar's appearance pretty close to mine - unless I'm just having a totally whimsical-feeling day and want to throw on hooves and a tail.

(Damn, is anyone else having trouble logging in today? I've been "connecting to region..." for like 10 minutes now)

But I keep my height the same, 5'2, my hair color for the most part, and I've tried to make my shape as realistic and similar as I can to my own iRL. I guess that's pretty boring though, eh? I guess I just got tired of trying to fix my avi up to look a certain way when I, myself, never dressed that way or had black or purple, or any other number of colors, hair.

Though, I don't look my age iRL, but I'm told this is gonna come in handy when I'm in my 30s and 40s, so I guess I can't complain. LOL

So once again, after drifting away from the point of the question, my avatar is about the same as my biological age.

I'll post pictures later if I think of something nifty. :>

phew. I just tried to publish this and it didn't submit right so I had to click Back. I thought I was gonna lose my post, but luckily Blogger is so smart and auto-saves :)

BBBC Nummer Zwei

Oooh, kickin' in some old german right there! >_>

Anyway..today's Big Bad Blogger Challenge topic is to either:
SL: Name three positive things going on in your Second Life
RL: Name three positive things going on in your life.

But being the over achiever that I am *cough*, I decided I'm going to pick three things from BOTH lives to write about. Three POSITIVE things. This might be tough...

Alright so...Second Life. This one might actually be tougher for me than real life. I guess that's probably a good thing to have more going on OUTSIDE my internet hobbies XP

1) A managerial position to keep me occupied - I'm grateful that Themi's new store has been keeping me busy and I finally have a "purpose" in SL. I know, that sounds pathetic, but I look at everyone else and they're all designing clothing or houses or scripting or whatever. I just never felt like I was really contributing to anything except to the designer's wallets.

(I've already gotten stumped :< )

2) Positive things going on my SLife....Hum. Well, my avi looks pretty neato if I do say so myself :) I take pride in my petite stature (5'2) - Though this isn't really something "going on", it's something positive...right..?

3) (This was originally part of #1, but I decided to give it its own bullet) Great friends - this is pretty much a given for anyone, I know, but I'm really thankful that I've reconnected with some old friends. It's a bummer that there are still some I haven't spoken to in a long time and of course there are those who just never come online anymore, but I understand, everyone's gotta live their lives. RL always comes before SL, of course.

Now on to RL:

1) This has been "my year", at least, that's what I keep telling myself. I didn't make a new year's resolution in January, but this seems to be the most productive year for me. I've been working out more and eating healthy, granted, I've always been petite, but I actually feel healthy now.

2) Pursuing a degree - even though I dread it most of the time, I'm still thankful that I am able to go to college. I'm working on my Sociology degree and so far, it's going great. I have a 4.0 GPA and I made the President's List this past semester (booyah!). I'm proud of my success thus far :3

3) Volunteering. I recently signed up to become a volunteer at the local SPCA and I'm getting involved in other community service. It just feels good to help others.

I guess my 3 RL points all sort of go together with "this has been my year". I've just been occupying myself with feel-good hobbies and trying to be healthier and stress-free. I would have put "finding myself" as one of my RL bullets, but I can't say I truly have yet, but this year has definitely been a jump forward to that.

So I guess I got a little more rant-y than I thought I would, but ah, who cares. 'Least it was positive, right?'

Oh, PS: that unexplained photobreak was meant to go with bullet #1 in my SL list - the wings I'm wearing are from Favole, the store I mentioned, and come in 12 different colors. I can't stop wearing them, I don't care if I don't match, they just look so darn cool :>
Go buy the Leviathan wings at the Favole Mainstore !

BBBC 2010, Here goes nothin'!

So I've decide to take part in the Ch'Know sponsored blog..thing..called the Big Bad Blogger Challenge 2010! I heard about it last year, but too late to join and at the time, I had quit blogging for a bit, but now I'm back in action and ready to roll :)

Let's just hope I actually stick to it.

Anyway, you can read all about it here if you'd like to join - all you have to do is comment on the post with your blog URL and make sure you do the posts! Simple.

So today's topic is "Why did yo become a blogger? How has it enriched your life?"

Hmm...so let's see. Well, if we're just keeping this to SL, I set this account up a year or so ago and I did a little blogging here and there, but got easily bored. Just recently, however, I started blogging again on this account because I've become a little more active in SL as of late. At first, I wanted this blog to just be daily "adventures" and explorations in my SLife, but it quickly turned to daily rants and fashion-related posts. This was mostly due to the fact that my great friend, Themi, started up her shop (Favole) so I wanted to show off her goods.

I try to still blog about my favorite or interesting spots that I come across while in-world, but it's been hard to keep the material exciting. So pretty much, I just blog about whatever now.

So after that long rant, my final answer (to the first question anyway)...I became a blogger because I thought it would give me something to do. It would be an outlet of expression for any topic, cause yknow, sometimes I blend RL into this blog. I just wanted a place outside of my RL blog to write.
And this leads into the next question, "how has it enriched my life?" Like I said, I now have a place that I can come to just to write whatever I feel like. With my RL blog, I find that I am more hesitant to be open, but when I'm blogging here, I feel comfortable and because I really don't have that many readers, I'm not concerned about offending anyone, posting crappy pictures or what have you. So in sum, it has helped me to "vent" whatever I'm feeling without restraints. Not exactly enriching, I guess, but somewhat therapeutic maybe?

Anyway.

BBBC Day 1: completed. I'll come back later and add a picture or two so it's not so drab :)

Hope everyone is having a great day - it's hot as heck here. I want to go biking in the park, but I'd probably keel over from heat stroke XP

So..t..ir..e.....d..

I'm gonna make this as quick as possible because I'm so friggin' tired. I just wanted to show off my finds for the day XP

That neato side bag is by Meriken Co. I love it *_* There are three versions: traveler (which is what I have), a cigarette one, and..well, I can't actually think of the third one so I guess you'll just have to go check 'em out! They come in three versions as I said, but there are like...six colors/patterns I do believe. Oh and each one comes in two versions: with a belt and without a belt. You can't really see it, but I'm wearing the belt under the new Ce Cubic Effect wide leg trousers which I adore as well.
Anddd of course, I can't forget the awesome goblin ears that I'm sporting. They're by ::{Favole}:: and such a steal at $50L. They come in 6 shades and they're full of win.

(I just went back and read what I had written so far and I skipped a bunch of words..that's how tired I am. So, if you come across any sentences that just don't make sense, well, it's the sleepiness talking, forgive me)

I had another picture, but I don't feel like resizing, cropping, and fixing it up to look somewhat decent. So, I'll just wrap this up and go to sleep :>

Goodnight !

Also, I don't feel like posting credits for the rest of my outfit...maybe tomorrow...

Porcelain

I finally gave in...on two accounts actually. Let's break it down:
  1. I bought Lindens. I know, you're all thinking - wtf? How do you play SL for two years and never buy one single $L? Well, I was trying to resist because I knew that as soon as I did, I would go spend it all in an instant and then be itching to buy more and the cycle would go on til my credit card bill was through the roof. But as I said, today I gave in. I didn't buy much, just got my toes wet. It was enough to get my avi a new skin. It was unfortunate that the &bean mainstore was down because I was gonna go have a shopping spree there pretty soon, but that will just have to be my next splurge. Anyway, I went skin hunting for several hours. I don't know how everyone can change their skins so often and to all different shades and makeups and such. It takes me DAYS to decide what looks best. If I only try the demo on once or twice and never come back to it, I delete it. To come to a final product, I try on my narrowed-down choices at least twenty times a piece. I examine the bodies, the options (i.e. freckles, cleavage..though I never use it, and the lady parts because even in SL you need to have a nice yknow XD), I look up the skins on other blogs to see how they look on others, and of course price is a factor. SO! After that massive wall of text, let me just get right down to the result of my skin hunting...which brings us to number two...
  2. I bought a Curio skin. When I first came to SL, I admired them from afar in ads and on all those fabulous fashionistas *cough*, but never got around to buying one. I know, I'm pretty late to jump on the bandwagon, but everyone else is raving about the new League skins and the new Tuli (which, don't get me wrong, are fab, but not for me)

So - it was an exciting day for me. Now I can watch my savings dwindle away as I'm sure I've unleashed a shopping beast.

I do have a picture for you all though! One of the light and airy variation again - sorry! My new Curio skin makes me feel like all those porcelain (hence the title) skinned ladies with the platinum blonde hair. Something about the ice queen look just makes me all giddy. Think...September, Laura Harris, etc. The Exile Sadie hair in frost tops off the look.
Anyway, here it is. I also combined a shot I snagged earlier when SL was being a jerk...taking my torso and face away >:O

"It's not bitchin' when you're glitchin'!" ..................I need sleep. XD
SL has been giving me some pretty weird glitches lately and I have managed to capture a few of them lately in photograph. Sometimes random parts of my body will just disappear. It's creepy.

Anyway, I think that's about it for tonight. I've had some pretty busy nights over at Favole with Themi as she gets more and more exposure (look out SLWorld, here it comes!) and more and more traffic!
And now I need to hit the sack because I have a very early wake up call x_x

Goodnight!

Wednesday, June 2, 2010

It's a good day.

I had a really wonderful day for the most part. Let me tell you, Mark Twain really knew what he was talking about when he said the best way to make yourself feel better is to make someone else feel better. It's the best feeling in the world to know you've made a difference, even if it's just a little one. Seize the moment, make someone laugh, give a smile, hold the door for a stranger. Just do something out of the ordinary - trust me, you'll like how it feels.

Anyway! On to SL-related things. I'm sure you've all seen the new group gift from +mocha+ - it's called White Moon Dress. It's really quite stunning if I do say so myself. I snagged a quick snapshot outside the shop because the setting is so neat and cute. As I said in a previous post, I love when designers really go the extra mile to dress up their shop, on the inside and out.

But enough chatter, on to the picture:

This picture describes how I'm feeling today: light, airy, free...happy.

Goodnight.

Procrastination breeds Blogging

So, who am I kidding? I can't blog regularly - I just never really feel like it, or if/when I do...it's always a spur of the moment sort of thing...hence the blog title. I should be studying for a test I have coming up this week (Ah, summer semester...so, so lame), but instead, I'm here blogging. I guess really the only thing I have to share as far as photos go this time is a new profile picture I took today. Once again, I never claimed to be a expert photographer or something so please spare me the criticism. I just snap a few shots, pick which one I think looks the nicest and play around with it in photoshop or this neat-o program called Picnik (it's online and free, how can it get any better?). Anyway, on to the picture.

P.S.: does anyone else notice that EVERY time you upload a picture to Blogger, it inputs it at the very top of your post? I find that really annoying because then I have the task of dragging it through the text (because, yknow, you can't scroll down while dragging a photo) to get it just where I want it. I'm beginning to think that's why some bloggers just start out with a photo and have all the text under it. Maybe that's a good idea...but then you all wouldn't get to read all my lovely explanations beforehand. Bahahah

Wow, I really need sleep.
So uh, yeah. Not much to say as always. I've been busy helping Themi with Favole cause I'm her new manager. Makes me feel all important and stuff XP
OH AND DID I MENTION?!
Themi got an ad spot in La Vie d'Innocent which is the gothic/lolita magazine that was founded by The Black Canary's creator, Morrigan Denimore. It's really a very nicely done publishing.
But anyway, back to the ad - Themis, her partner Kaishi, and myself are in it! Themi and Kai dressed in a darker, more gothic style sporting some of Favole's accessories while I dressed in more earthy colors sporting a set of horns (as per usual) and cloven hooves - which I might add are ridiculously awesome!
Aw, shoot. I was gonna post the ad here so you all could see, but I forgot that retrieving snapshots from SL isn't as easy as just browsing your computer for a regular image. Sooo, I guess you'll just have to wait til the next issue comes out.
In any case, though, the photographer, Ysandir Dharnen (longtime friend and Themi's partner in crime), did an awesome job setting everyone up just right and capturing the perfect shot.
I'm excited to see how it looks in the magazine. :)

Wowowow, wall o'text. I must really be trying to avoid this studying...but alas, I really must go. :<

Goodnight !

Dance Like You Just Don't Care

Helllooo! It's been a few days, eh? I'm gonna try and make this a quickie post since all my others tend to be so long.

Today I spent my time in-world helping out my friend Themi with some managerial stuffs while she placed everything at her new branch location on Harold. Her store, Favole, provides awesome gothic/victorian accessories and you can read a whole bunch more about her stuff here.
Anyway! After all was said and done, the shop was set up and the notices sent, we took a moment to dance.

[19:37] Themis Enzo: the dance of champiooons

Trust me, it's a super nerdy dance - even if you can't tell from the picture, but sometimes you just have to dance like you don't care what you look like. XD

PS: There's some freebies at her new Harold location that you should really check out :o

Have a good night everyone!

Errr...

Busy, busy! I'll get back into the swing of things probably by the end of the week or beginning of next. My summer semester just started up so it's been super busy for me, but it'll die down soon enough...hopefully. :)

In the meantime, check out the Favole blog for all of Themis Enzo's latest creations (I blog over there as well).

See ya!

.10 Cadenza

Oops, so I kinda didn't keep up with my goal of blogging once a day...again. Oh well. I do have a post for you today though! I'll just save all the talk and get right down to it because I'm really tired and mother nature is not letting me have a good week. *chomps on midol*

Anyway! On to the photos. I went to a sim called Cadenza today. If you've ever been a frequent visitor of the Chou Chou sim (which I believe is now closed? Correct me if I'm wrong!), you'll love this one. It's got a very similar design - it's very open with water everywhere and little "islands" of focal points. The centerpiece of the sim is this fantastic tree trunk with a piano and swirling lights and fairies. It's really quite stunning. (And once again, I apologize for my lack of photo skills.)

This is the centerpiece I mentioned. As always, click to enlarge so you can (hopefully) see the detail. I tried a bunch of windlight settings and I found that the foggier ones made for an interesting forest-nymph sort of feel - if that makes sense. Look at me trying to act like I know what I'm talking about XD

Random trees...and me. Uhh, yeah - next!

On the other side of the sim, there is this neat art exhibition - apparently they are RL paintings that the creator of the sim has done (I'll have to go back and check this later and correct my post if I'm mistaken - I'm writing this as I chill with some friends at their place). I really like when SL designers bring their RL creations to share with the virtual world.

Ohshi~...Blogger connection can't be found. I'm gonna lose this whole...

PHEW! That was close. I saved the draft just in time before the page refreshed and cleared the entry box.
Anyway, on to the final photo for today - you know I always have to sneak in some vain picture of my avi-self so here goes :P

Have a great weekend everyone. It's time for me to hit to the bed with a good movie and some medicine. Go visit Cadenza, you won't be disappointed!

.09 - Adventure Blogging!

Today is the start of my newfound goal; I call it: Adventure Blogging. The reason I started this blog wasn't to ramble on about nothing constantly or talk about fashion like the nine hundred other blogs that already do that (sure, I'm still gonna sneak some of both of the aforementioned things in though from time to time); the reason was so I could share stories about my exploration of Second Life. That's mainly what I do now when I log on: explore. So, I'm going to try as hard as I can to bring you all (whoever is out there..reading this...o.o) a new post everyday with a new location that I've explored. If anyone has any suggestions, feel free to leave a comment on this post or send me an in-world IM! I love it when people send me LMs to cool places so really, please do!

Anyway, today, because my Emerald viewer wouldn't load any of the Showcase and I was completely stumped for ideas, I sought out the help of secondlife.com for cool places to explore. The first place I stumbled upon was a sim called Morill. It's a "Virtual State Fair". The reason I was drawn to this was because not only did I love me a state/county fair when I was a wee child, but because when I first came to SL I found this amusement park which entertained me and my newfound friends for hours. Ah...those were the days. XP
So let's get right to a picture break - first up, Skeeball! I love the Mime pose set (I used one of them in this photo) by Del May - I swear I can use that set in just about ANY situation and it will work on some level...and of course make me laugh.

Next up: the obligatory Ferris Wheel! (Not to be confused with my favorite movie, FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF! :P) I actually can't tell where I am in the photo, but I think when I snapped it I was around that area...who knows.

And of course, the livestock part of the fair is a child's favorite. Here we have some goats - apparently I found them funny 'cause I'm pointing and laughing at them. Or maybe I'm just pointing and saying "Awww!" Again, who knows.

And last, but not least, this particular fair had several educational areas which I found kind of neat if you're into the whole educational part of SL - I have to admit, I wasn't really there to learn all about the life cycle of a Japanese Beetle or how to properly care for your turf grass, but if that's you're thing...well, this fair has all the info you need!
Anyway, I did however snap a picture of the nutrition area they had. My new year's resolution for 2010 was to create a healthier, happier me in RL (and I guess SL?). I've never been much of a red-meat eater but now I've completely cut that out and I'm all about the fruit and veggies this year. Exercise used to be painfully boring and tiring for me, but now I enjoy it and use that time to wind down my day and get some energy out.
So, here's a snapshot of me sporting the Vanna White pose, showing off the new (I guess it's not so new anymore since it's been at least five years or so since it changed) Food Pyramid. Everything in moderation, baby!

Gosh! That was a long blog post. Sorry about that. I'll try and have more interesting places next time, but I just had fun going through this sim 'cause there was just so much to look at.

Maybe I'll do a post featuring AM Radio's different exhibits sometime soon - those are some of my favorite sims to visit.

Until next time, I bid you adieu!
